Wild Animals, Spring Peepers & the Bush Garden

This bear and I watched each other for a long time this past week. I spotted him as I was headed back home from town. He's was enjoying the new green grass on the side of the road.

It has been a good week at Lonesome! We've had a lot of rain and the occasional sunny day. No black flies or mosquitos, yet, but the giant furry spiders have made their debut in the outhouse, and I found a cricket in the cabin this morning. I saw three different Kingfishers on three different lakes and different types of ducks in pairs and small groups.

View out my loft window. That's a maple to the left.

Twin deer drinking out of a puddle on our way to town this week.

I finally finished my sweater. The sleeves are 3/4 length so they don't get in the way of doing the dishes.

Our bush garden is underway, and I'm really, really pleased because we beat the black flies that come pouring out of the soil when it warms up. We rototilled in cow manure, and I planted many rows of yellow and red onions and eight rows of spinach.

Listen to the Spring Peepers! They are in the ponds and little lakes everywhere I go!!

Ricky tells me that he is unable to submit an anecdote today as he is still looking for his rusty minnow traps and really needs to get cracking on that. Once he finds them, there is a lot of repair work to do. What can I say...

Spring is definitely in the air everywhere! Whew!! Enjoy your week!
